All-Mercedes front row in Hungary

Lewis Hamilton will start from pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with teammate Valtteri Bottas joining him on the front row.

Hamilton’s title rival Max Verstappen will start from third on soft tyres, having been unable to match the Mercedes pace in qualifying.

Sergio Perez missed out of the chance to improve on his time at the end of Q3, missing the chequered flag as the drivers fought for track position with the clock ticking down.

Just 19 drivers took part in qualifying as Mick Schumacher had to sit out, having damaged his Haas in final practice earlier this morning.

George Russell’s run of Q2 appearances came to an end as the Williams drivers ran wide on his final flying lap in the opening session, resulting in him being knocked out.

Carlos Sainz showed strong early pace, finishing Q1 fourth, but he hopes of challenging towards the front of the grid came to an end when he spun in the second session and collided with the barrier, red flagging proceedings.

Sainz’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, starts seventh, while Pierre Gasly is the highest place driver outside Mercedes and Red Bull, as he starts fifth, with Lando Norris joining him on the third row.
