Both F1 teams currently in administration have submitted entries for 2015, despite their futures being massively uncertain.
Caterham have entered under the name “CF1 Caterham F1 Team” whereas Marussia have ditched that name and re-branded themselves as per their original entry in 2010 before Virgin got involved, and have entered as “Manor F1 Team”.
Interestingly, the company that has submitted Caterham’s application are ‘1Malaysia Racing Team’ which suggest ties to Fernandes are not yet completely severed and despite administration he has agreed to help find a buyer for the stricken team.
Manor F1’s application is subject to confirmation; entry fees are to be paid by 30 November.
Aside from the two stand out applications, Red Bull have confirmed that they intend to run Renault engines next year, despite their issues with the first generation power units this year. Lotus have entered with Mercedes as their new engine supplier for next year, taking the spot left by Mclaren, who are simply entered as “Mclaren Honda”, harking back to days past.
