It’s taken 28 years, but we’ve finally got another Honda powered car on pole in Brazil. Ayrton Senna was the last driver to achieve this feat in 1991 and since then we’ve had a succession of under-powered cars running Honda engines, but it looks like their tie-up with RedBull is now producing results with Max Verstappen taking his 2nd pole of the season after the 3rd time he set the fastest Q3 time (let’s not talk about Mexico shall we?)
We’re going into today’s race with both title already sewn up, but there’s still other positions to play for and RedBull will want to bring it to Ferrari, especially with Charles Leclerc being hit with a 10 place grid drop after putting a new engine in. This could give Max a push to get up to 3rd in the driver’s championship going into the last race in Abu Dhabi in 2 weeks time. There’s also a few minor places to be sorted out with only 26 points between Danny Ric in 9th and K-Mag in 16th, so bragging rights are not settled yet!
Paul’s here with Chris, Dan & Sian to take you through the race…
