Charles Leclerc will start his home race from pole position after putting in a dominant performance in qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Ferrari driver will be alongisde Oscar Piastri on the front row, with Carlos Sainz starting third.

For the second race in a row, Fernando Alonso found himself knocked out in Q1, but the biggest surprise in the opening session was the struggles of Sergio Perez, who couldn’t make the most of the Red Bull.

While he progressed to Q3, Max Verstappen also found the Red Bull difficult to handle, complaining of the car sliding on track before clipping the wall, denying him a chance to improve his time in the final part of qualifying.

Pierre Gasly gave Alpine their first Q3 appearance of the season, whil Yuki Tsunoda continued his recent strong qualifying performances.

Traffic caused throughout the opening two sessions, with a number of drivers under investigation for impeding.
