McLaren have locked out the front row from the Hungarian Grand Prix as Lando Norris secured pole position ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri.

With two red flags and changeable weather conditions, it was a disrupted session lasting almost 90 minutes.

Rain started to fall ahead of qualifying, leaving the track damp at the start of Q1, and the conditions continued to get wetter throughout the opening part of qualifying.

Logan Sargeant struggled for grip as he ran wide and damage his front wing, before Sergio Perez spun and crashed at high speed, resulting in a red flag.

The rain continued to hit the circuit while the action was suspending, meaning conditions were worse when the drivers returned to the track, but all cars remained on slick tyres as they tried to improve their times.

The warm conditions meant the track soon started to dry and the drivers found grip, with the majority going fastest right at the end of the session.

George Russell set his best lap time too early though, and as everyone else improve he tumbled down the order, finding himself eliminated in Q1, along with both Alpines, who remained in the garage at the end of the session.

With a risk of rain again in Q3, Norris was comfortably quickest on the first of the flying runs, before the front runners all headed back out looking to improve.

With just over 2 minutes on the clock, Yuki Tsunoda took too much kerb and collided with the barrier, resulting in another red flag.

Several cars headed back out once the track was clear, trying to squeeze in one final lap before the end of the session, but Carlos Sainz didn’t make it round his outlap in time.

Only Daniel Ricciardo managed to improve his time after the red flag, while Max Verstappen chose not to head back out.
