Episode 176 – New Orders Divide The Joy

2018 Russian Grand Prix, Sunday - Wolfgang Wilhelm

So the Russian Grand Prix finally brought the Mercedes team orders into play, which we knew were coming at some point of this season. It’s not a new thing in F1 and it’s been Ferrari’s signature move since the 90s and even Jordan’s debut win in 1998 came thanks to them. While it does take away some of the racing, it’s still a fact that F1 is a team sport and it’s down to the team to decide if they are going to push one driver for a win above the other and when there’s a chance of getting a better gap in the driver’s championship[ ahead of the nearest rival then it’s what they are going to do.

This week on the podcast we look back at the Russian Grand Prix which saw Sauber get the “best of the rest” win (aka 7th place), an incredible performance from Max Verstappen and a very truncated race for Toro Rosso (there’s a tin foil theory about that). We also look forward to the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka this weekend, and for once we’ve managed to get to Tuesday afternoon without having to put a jumpcut in!

There’s the usual stuff as well, including a new Formula Lee reace for Japan (Suzuka in the dry in a RedBull) and a Who’s a Total Shunt. Don’t forget about our extra show on our Patreon page where you can get an exclusive extra podcast for as little as $1 a month. And if you want your own 3Legs4Wheels t-shirt  you can get one from our shop at Teepublic

Enjoy

As always, you can listen here or on Sticher and iTunes and most other podcast apps too along with Acast and TuneIn Radio (which means we now play on Alexa devices!)
